Heinrich Lemacher

Heinrich Lemacher (born June 26, 1891 in Solingen , † March 16, 1966 in Cologne ) was a German composer and university professor .

Heinrich Lemacher studied from 1911 to 1916 at the Cologne Conservatory and at the University of Bonn, where he received his doctorate in musicology in 1916. From 1925 to 1965 he taught composition, theory and music history at the Cologne University of Music , where he had been a professor since 1928.

Important students of Heinrich Lemacher were Heinrich Weber , Bernd Alois Zimmermann and his long-time colleague at the Cologne Music Academy Hermann Schroeder , at the same time co-author of his most important textbooks.

Lemacher died at the age of 74 in a Cologne hospital. He was widowed by Maria Augusta Horst, whom he married in Cologne in 1927.
