Heinrich Meili-Wapf (born July 20, 1860 in Zurich ; died July 28, 1927 in Lucerne ) was a Swiss architect who ran one of the larger Lucerne architecture firms in the dying historicism on the border with Art Nouveau , and above all in the Central Switzerland planned booming hotel construction. His most famous work is the Hotel Palace Luzern .

Life

Heinrich Meili attended the schools in his hometown of Zurich and did a construction internship there before studying at the ETH Zurich from 1880 to 1884 . His design teachers there were Friedrich Bluntschli and Ferdinand Stadler . Study visits took him to the Austro-Hungarian dual monarchy (Vienna, Budapest, Trieste) and Italy (Florence). In 1889 he settled in Lucerne, where he initially worked for Arnold Bringolf , but was able to open his own office the following year. He ran this office for thirty years, from 1890 to 1924, from 1917 together with his son Armin Meili .

From 1892 to 1898 he was head of the structural engineering department of the Gotthard Railway and, in addition to the railway officials' settlement in Erstfeld, was responsible for the railway stations in Küssnacht , Meggen and the wedge station in Arth-Goldau .
