Heinrich Ostrop

Heinrich Ostrop (born January 22, 1925 in Olfen ; † April 25, 2015 ) was a German politician ( CDU ) and a member of the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament.

Life and work

Ostrop was the son of a farmer in Olfen. In January 1943 he was drafted into the 10th SS Panzer Division "Frundsberg" . After training in the east and stationing in the west, Ostrop was transferred to the Ukraine and took part in the Battle of Tarnopol in March and April 1944 . He was then transferred back to France again and, after being wounded twice, was taken prisoner in February 1945. After a brief period as a prisoner of war, Ostrop completed vocational training in agriculture , but soon switched to Catholic youth and adult education in the diocese of Münster. Here he was diocesan advisor to the Catholic rural youth.

Party political engagement

Ostrop had been a member of the CDU since 1952. From 1952 to 1959, Ostrop was initially involved in local politics in the council of his home municipality of Olfen, and then from 1964 to 1969 in the council of the Nienberge municipality . He was also active in numerous party bodies. With a brief interruption, Heinrich Ostrop was deputy party chairman of the CDU Westfalen-Lippe from 1973 to 1986. From 1986 to 1991 he was also deputy party chairman of the CDU regional association of North Rhine-Westphalia.

MP

From July 24, 1966 to May 29, 1985 Ostrop was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia . He was directly elected in the constituencies 089 Münster-Land and 100 Warendorf I. Here he was an agricultural policy expert and active as a media politician. In 1983 he became deputy group chairman.
