Heinrich Philipp Loesch
Heinrich Philipp Loesch (* 1826 in Griesheim , † September 9, 1896 in Bern ) was a master shoemaker and well- donor .
life and work
Loesch was married to a woman from Bern. As a master shoemaker, he had his workshop at Gerechtigkeitsgasse 69 in Bern. As a non-naturalized, childless and wealthy widower - he owned the property at Postgasse 26 in Bern - he made the community of Bern his sole heir on December 14, 1888, with the stipulation that the interest income from the property should be used for the maintenance or restoration of the monumental fountains in Bern and fountain paintings in the city. The will was drawn up by Karl Howald's son .
In 1927, based on a design by Karl Indermühle, a fountain with a phoenix as a gargoyle was created west of the house at Münstergasse 3 in Bern .
