Heinrich Rauscher (* 1918 or 1919) is a German local historian in the Bergisches Land .

Live and act

Professionally, Heinrich Rauscher was a master craftsman in the painting trade; as a volunteer cultural curator , Rauscher became known to the public in the 1970s and 1980s.

For many years, he was the Naturefriends' route planner and sketched hiking trails for the Rhineland Regional Association. This activity led to his interest in hammer mills and grinding cabins in the Morsbachtal and its side valleys. The Morsbachtal separates the communities of Wuppertal and Remscheid as a border river. In his homeland, the Bergisches Land, he meticulously researched the archives and had numerous conversations with contemporary witnesses, thereby gaining extensive specialist knowledge in this area that was highly recognized by other local historians. He was a frequent speaker for nature and local history at nature lovers and history associations. His work Historical Walk through the Morsbach Valley and its Side Valleys , which was published by the Bergisches Geschichtsverein through Michael Metschies in its series Contributions to the history and local history of Wuppertal , is regarded as the standard work with regard to the history of the Morsbach . Another focus of his research was the Bergische Landwehr .

Awards and honors

On 11 April 1989, the pensioners Rauscher received the Rhineland dollars of the Rhineland Regional Council (LVR, then the Regional Assembly of the Rhineland ) for the volunteer activity in the fields of natural history and industrial history.

At the ceremony, Klaus Goebel , who was chairman of the LVR's cultural committee at the time, gave the laudation. Goebel described Rauscher as a man who doesn't like big words: “But anyone who has ever experienced, when it comes to bringing hammers and kettles to life, to show them to visitors and interested guests, also knows how it is from you gushes out. Then everyone bystanders experiences a man who not only knows in every detail what he is talking about, but can also pass this knowledge on with meticulousness and enthusiasm. "
