Heinrich Salfenauer
Heinrich Salfenauer (born September 11, 1920 in Werfen , Pongau ; † April 4, 2016 ) was an Austrian politician and mayor of Salzburg between 1970 and 1980 .
Life
Heinrich Salfenauer became a member of the SPÖ in 1945 . From 1945 to 1957 he was District Secretary of the SPÖ in the city of Salzburg. In 1951 he moved into the local council. On November 18, 1957, he became a city councilor for the city of Salzburg. In 1967 he became Alfred Bäck 's deputy mayor , and on September 28, 1970, he replaced him and took over the office of mayor of the city of Salzburg. After almost ten years in office, he handed over this position to his party colleague in the SPÖ, Josef Reschen, on September 12, 1980 .
Ten years after he had retired from politics, the Schallmoos elementary school was renamed Heinrich-Salfenauer-Volksschule , an award that was similarly bestowed only to his predecessor Alfred Bäck.
Honors
- Heinrich Salfenauer is the recipient of the Viktor Adler Plaque and the Bruno Kreisky Medal in gold.
- January 6, 1981: Elected honorary citizen of the provincial capital Salzburg .
- 1997: Honorary citizen of the University of Salzburg
