Heinrich Stamerjohann

Heinrich Stamerjohann (born November 3, 1871 in Haseldorf ; † October 30, 1959 in Horst ) was a German farmer, local politician and peasant functionary.

Career

Stamerjohann was born as the son of the domain tenant Hinrich Stamerjohann. From 1878 to 1881 he attended the elementary school in Haseldorf, from 1881 to 1884 the middle school in Uetersen and from 1884 to 1889 the secondary school in Altona. He then worked in his parents' business and gained further practical experience on large estates in Mecklenburg. Later he bought a 30 hectare farm in Haseldorf. During the First World War he served as an officer at the front and was discharged as a major in the reserve. In 1917 he bought the Eichenhof in Horst.

Since 1906 he was a member of the district council of Pinneberg . In 1922 he was elected head of the office and community of Horst. At the same time he represented the interests of the peasant class as chairman of the Schleswig-Holstein farmers 'association and as vice-president of the association of German farmers' associations . From 1927 to 1933 he was a member of the Provisional Reich Economic Council . After the last free local election in March 1933, he was appointed mayor for twelve years. In order to remain in office under the National Socialists, he joined the NSDAP on May 1, 1933 . Tensions between him and the NSDAP local group leader Wilhelm Koopmann led to the resignation of his offices in March 1943. In the summer of 1944, Stamerjohann left the NSDAP.

After the end of the Second World War , he was reinstated as Mayor of Horst in June 1945 by the British military government . In May 1946, after the judicial chamber proceedings had been initiated, he resigned.
