About this picture

Haseldorf is a municipality in the Pinneberg district in the south of Schleswig-Holstein . Haseldorf has no other districts.

geography

Haseldorf is about 12 kilometers southwest of Elmshorn and 10 kilometers west of Pinneberg on the Elbe . The community lies in the Haseldorfer Marsch , of which it is the main town.

Haseldorf borders the municipalities of Hetlingen , Haselau , Heist and Moorrege . Together with these neighboring communities and with the communities Neuendeich , Groß Nordende , Heidgraben , Appen and Holm, Haseldorf has formed the new Geest and Marsch Südholstein office since January 1, 2017 .

history

It was first mentioned in a document in 1190. In the 12th century a castle was built here by the knights of Haseldorf , which was destroyed in 1258 and rebuilt in 1317.

In 1494, the knight Hans von Ahlefeldt received the Vogtei Haseldorf from King Johann I in exchange for other areas, including the Haseldorfer Marsch , the five associated parishes and the Gut Gelting estate with its villages and some scattered holdings. Haseldorf Castle was finally destroyed by Wallenstein's troops in 1627. Gelting, where the still preserved side wings of the manor house were built by the Ahlefeldts, had to be auctioned in 1712, Haseldorf remained in the possession of the von Ahlefeldt family until 1731 .

In 1731 the von Schilden family bought the property. In 1896, the Haseldorf estate (together with Haselau and Hetlingen and Palsgaard / Denmark) fell to Prince Emil von Schoenaich-Carolath -Schilden (1852–1908) as the son of Emilie von Oppen-Schilden . In place of the castle, the Haseldorf manor house was built in 1804 , which today is the most important building in the community, along with the St. Gabriel Church built in the 13th century .

Haseldorf, located in the flat marshland , was hit many times by storm surges . It is protected by dikes to the Lower Elbe , which flows southwest of Haseldorf and is influenced by the tides .

Since 1989 Udo Prinz von Schoenaich-Carolath-Schilden's “Rinderstall” has been the venue for the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival .
