coat of arms

Blazon : “In silver a red oblique left bar; above a blue lily cross, below a slanting left green oak leaf. "

The lily cross represents Mary as the patroness of the Harvestehude monastery , to which Bilsen belonged until 1803. The red bar symbolizes the federal highway 4. This street leading through Bilsen is the successor of the first art street built in Schleswig-Holstein. The oak leaf stands for the Bilsener Wohld. The oak is considered to be the typical tree of the former forest, into which the pigs were driven to be fed acorns .
