coat of arms
Blazon : “In silver, a narrower blue wavy bar over a wider one; above the doorless, pilaster-framed red front of a school building with 16 windows in two rows, a hipped roof and roof projection with a clock over four windows. "
The schoolhouse reproduced in the coat of arms is the first joint school in the two villages of Borstel and Hohenraden, which formed a common peasantry in pre-Prussian times. The two unequal wave bars symbolize the location of Borstel-Hohenrades between the two rivers Pinnau and Bilsbek , of which the Pinnau is the significantly larger.
