Bullenkuhlen is a municipality in the Pinneberg district in Schleswig-Holstein .

Geography and traffic

Bullenkuhlen is located about 5 km east of Elmshorn in a rural area. Between Bullenkuhlen and Elmshorn, the federal highway 23 runs from Hamburg in the direction of Heide .

history

In 1588 the place was first mentioned in a document as "Bulle-Kuhlen". In 1647 it was called Bullenkuhlen under its current name. The place is on the historic Ochsenweg . Its name is probably derived from the ponds on the Krückau, where the oxen were watered.

Community representation

Since the municipal elections in 2013, the BWB voter community has all nine seats in the municipal council.

economy

The Rantzau Forestry Office had its seat in Bullenkuhlen since 1810. It consisted of five foresters who managed 5200 hectares of forest. At the end of 2007 the Forestry Office was dissolved and incorporated into the Schleswig-Holstein State Forests .
