About this picture

Bönningstedt ( Low German : Bönningsteed ) is a municipality in the Pinneberg district in Schleswig-Holstein . The districts of Winzeldorf and Rugenbergen belong to the community.

geography

Bönningstedt is on federal highway 4 and federal highway 7 directly north of Hamburg . The Mühlenau and Rugenwedelsau flow through the municipality, and parts of the Rantzau state forest (today: Schleswig-Holstein State Forests ) are located in the municipality.

history

The first hunters settled in Bönningstedt 7000 years before Christ. Agriculture and cattle breeding found their way into the community 5000 years before Christ. A clay vessel from 2000 BC is exhibited today in the Altona Museum.

Bönningstedt was first mentioned in a document in 1369. The first steps in the school system took place in 1700. In 1884 the station was opened, which connects Bönningstedt to the AKN line A1 . Ice was mined in the ice pond from 1888. The railway line was moved to Feldmark in 1912 . In the same year the community was electrified. Ice mining was stopped in 1920, after which the ice pond was used as a bathing establishment from 1929 to 1934.

The communities of Bönningstedt and Winzeldorf merged in 1942. On this occasion, a boulder was set up in the official park in Ellerbeker Straße in 1982 and has been a reminder of this ever since. The Protestant parish was founded in 1958. In 1969 the cemetery and chapel were inaugurated. The VHS Bönningstedt was founded in 1975 and was housed in the building of the Rugenbergen community school until it was closed in 2015. The sports and leisure center on Ellerbeker Strasse was inaugurated in 1980.

In 1983 Bönningstedt received a coat of arms. The Bönningstedter Markt was founded in 1987. In 1990 and 1991 there were fires in the cemetery chapel. A new fire station is inaugurated in 1994. The "Rugenberger Mühle" had to file for bankruptcy in 1995. The church tower in Bönningstedt was completed in 1997. The Protestant parish was renamed the Simon-Petrus-Kirchengemeinde in 2000.

Bönningstedt was the seat of the Bönningstedt office and until the move of the administration to Rellingen on August 1st, 2008 also the seat of the Pinnau office .

coat of arms

Blazon : “In silver, an oblique left blue wavy bar, accompanied by an upright red ice spade leaf at the top and bottom. "

The municipal coat of arms in Schleswig-Holstein's national colors reminds of the years 1888–1920, when the Mühlenau was regularly dammed up into an ice pond in Bönningstedt, through the ice spade leaves and the Mühlenau. In the winter months, natural ice was extracted here, which was sold to breweries, slaughterhouses and fish shops during the year. The ice blocks obtained were transported to the storage sheds in a narrow channel with the help of ice spades. During this time, ice making was an economic factor that should not be underestimated for Bönningstedt and, especially in winter, offered many families additional income. The ice spade leaf, cited twice, is also a symbol for the equal unification of the formerly independent communities of Bönningstedt and Winzeldorf to form today's community of Bönningstedt.

flag

Blazon : "In the middle of a blue flag cloth, the municipal coat of arms."

Community partnerships

Since 1984 Bönningstedt maintains a partnership with the English Seaford in the county of East Sussex . Since 1991, Crivitz (Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania) and Rachoni on the Greek island of Thassos have also been partner communities of Bönningstedt.

Economy and Infrastructure

The municipality offers three settlement options for industry and commerce. The Goosmoortwiete industrial area, the industrial area on Nordring and the area on Ellerhorst. After the new construction of the Rugenbergen Center in the center of the village, numerous retail stores and service companies have settled there. Due to the proximity to Hamburg, however, many residents of the community commute to their workplace in the Hanseatic city, to Norderstedt or to Rellingen or Halstenbek .

traffic

Bönningstedt is on federal highway 4 and directly on federal freeway 7 ; the Hamburg-Schnelsen driveway can be reached in a few minutes. The AKN's Hamburg-Altona-Kaltenkirchen-Neumünster railway , which connects Neumünster with Hamburg , runs through the town . In the middle of the community is the "Bönningstedt" train station. For years there has been a fight for another station, "Bönningstedt Nord". The Hamburg Airport can be reached in around 15 minutes by car. The A23 motorway towards Itzehoe / Heide is also in the immediate vicinity.

The 295 bus runs between the district town of Pinneberg and Norderstedt with 3 stops in Bönningstedt. Both the AKN and the bus line are integrated in the Hamburg Transport Association (HVV).

The S-Bahn line S21 is to run on the AKN line of the A1 from 2021. This eliminates the need to change trains in Eidelstedt. This project was repeatedly postponed.

education

There is a primary school in Bönningstedt that teaches around 200 children. The school center houses the Rugenbergen community school , which has existed in this form since summer 2009. The primary school celebrated its 125th anniversary on June 2, 2018.
