The Mühlenau (also: Rellau or Rellingbeck) is a stream and later a smaller river in Schleswig-Holstein .

description

The Mühlenau arises on the eastern edge of the Holmmoor ( belonging to the city of Quickborn ), directly on the Autobahn 7 , from several ditches. In the meadow and pasture area between Norderstedt and Hasloh it then takes on the wider Moorbek from the left . In the further course it crosses Bönningstedt and Ellerbek as well as Rellingen , which is why it is also called Rellau there.

To the south of Rellingen, the Mühlenau forms the border to Pinneberg in parts . This is where the Düpenau flows towards the Pinneberger area . Finally, the Mühlenau flows into the Pinnau in the west of Pinneberg .

Shortly before its mouth, the Mühlenau was dammed for centuries until 1924 in order to preserve a mill pond. There was a water mill at its drain, which was later called a peasant mill.
