Kölln-Reisiek is a municipality in the Pinneberg district in Schleswig-Holstein . It is located northwest of Hamburg and borders directly on the city of Elmshorn . The place is west of the federal highway 23 and south of the Krückau and consists of the districts Altenmühlen, Grauer Esel, Kölln and Reisiek.

history

Initially, the place consisted of agricultural businesses, later tree nurseries and smaller businesses were added. Residential houses were built along Köllner Chaussee early on, and their owners worked in Elmshorn. Even today, most of the Kölln Reisiekers work outside the town, for example in Elmshorn or Hamburg.

The number of full-time farms and tree nurseries has decreased over the last few decades as residential development has expanded.

The number of commercial operations has increased again recently, as a commercial area has been created in the south of the community at the motorway access.

Origin of name

The name Kölln-Reisiek has only existed since the 20th century. If you look back in history, you will find evidence that the community has been known as Colling since the 16th century. Over the centuries it developed into Cölln, before the second part Reisiek was added in the 19th century. The place name researcher Laur assumes that Kölln was derived from the Middle Low German word Kolle (tip of a plant). Reisiek is not very easy to understand, but probably comes from the old Danish Rei like Fischplatz, and Siek is an old Germanic meaning for "swampy lowland on a river".

The meanings are also confirmed by the coat of arms with the depicted heron. These birds had their breeding sites in Kölln-Reisiek in the last few centuries. The community is named after the natural occurrence and the animal world.

Economy and Infrastructure

Kölln-Reisiek has been served by the Pinneberger Verkehrsgesellschaft since 2008 and connects the community with Elmshorn.

Since the HVV bus routes were changed to four-digit numbers, the 6500 line connects Kölln-Reisiek with the neighboring town of Elmshorn. The buses used belong to the company "Die Linie GmbH".

education

There is the Kölln-Reisiek elementary school in the community. From the 2019/20 school year, the primary school will consist of two classes. The primary school is currently being expanded and converted into a cross-generational education center.

All secondary schools are in Elmshorn.

Kölln-Reisiek has also had its own kindergarten since 2014. It is located right next to the GS Kölln-Reisiek and can accommodate up to 65 children. The kindergarten is one of the first "future kindergartens" in Germany.

Sports

In Kölln-Reisiek there is a tennis club with several courts and a football field sponsored by the DFB as part of the football field for Germany campaign . Another space is located at the Kölln-Reisieker multi-purpose hall. The SG Kölln-Reisiek u. a. Table tennis and floorball . There is also a club house and a restaurant at the multi-purpose hall.

Kölln-Reisiek has grown strongly in recent years. Two large new development areas have been built since 2006.

The Elmshorn cemetery, which was relocated for space reasons, has been located in Kölln-Reisiek since 1969. It covers a total area of ​​12.5 hectares.
