history

The office was originally called Amt Moorrege and comprised the six communities Groß Nordende, Heidgraben, Heist, Holm, Moorrege and Neuendeich. On July 1, 2006, the municipality of Appen gave up its freedom of office and joined the office of Moorrege.

Since April 1, 2015 the office has been led by a full-time official director. The head of office consequently takes on the tasks of a citizen head and is no longer the head of the administration or authority.

On January 1, 2017, the Haseldorf office dissolved and its three communities Haselau, Haseldorf and Hetlingen joined the office, which was then renamed the Geest and Marsch Südholstein office.

The office building in Moorrege is the administrative seat for the ten municipalities
