Heinrich Stephan

Heinrich Stephan (born August 31, 1898 in Witschenske , Lissa district , † September 1, 1990 in Dortmund ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

After attending elementary school, Stephan first completed an agricultural apprenticeship, but changed his profession and started working as a steelworker. In addition, he was a union member and was a member of the German Metalworkers' Association (DMV) from 1922 to 1933 . After the Second World War he joined IG Metall and was chairman of the works council from 1947 to 1963 as well as a member of the supervisory board of the Dortmund-Hörder Hüttenunion . He was also a board member of the non-profit housing cooperative Dortmund-Süd based in Hörde and acted as a labor judge from 1950 to 1953.

Stephan had been a member of the SPD since 1945.

MP

Stephan was a council member of the city of Dortmund from 1952 to 1954. In 1954 he was elected to the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament for the first time . After his election to the Bundestag, he resigned from the Landtag on October 3, 1961. He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1961 to 1969. In Parliament he represented the constituency Dortmund I .
