Live and act
Vosberg was the fourth child of the glazier and painter Jan Habben Vosberg (1794–1881) and his wife Friederike Margarethe Geesche, née Hillendahl, born in Leer. The father came from Groothusen, the mother from Oldenburg. He was already supported in his studies by King George V and studied with Johann Wilhelm Schirmer at the Düsseldorf and Karlsruhe academies . From 1866 to 1875 he was employed as a painter at the court of the Duke of Cumberland in Hanover. Vosberg's paintings are exhibited in the Kunsthalle Karlsruhe and the Lower Saxony State Gallery in Hanover.
Vosberg's painting built on the school of Johann Wilhelm Schirmer, who counted him among his best students: "Its importance lies in a lyrical, Dutch-influenced variant of the heroic landscape of his teacher, whose choice of themes and composition he adopted."
