Heinrich Wilhelm Spindler

Heinrich Wilhelm Spindler (the younger) (born January 18, 1738 in Bayreuth , † 1788 in Berlin ) was a German cabinet maker (cabinet maker) of the Rococo .

Life

He was the stepbrother of Johann Friedrich Spindler and came from the Bayreuth building and artisan family Spindler. There is only a limited amount of reliable information about the life of the son of the princely locksmith Johann Spindler (1691–1770).

1756 he worked as a journeyman on the move with Pierre II Migeon in Paris, late twenties, he came to the Prussian royal seat of Potsdam . After Heinrich Spindler did not receive any more orders from Friedrich II in Potsdam for a long time , he moved his workshop to Berlin.

Together with his stepbrother, he completed the Spindler's cabinet in Fantaisie Palace in 1765 . The Spindler's Cabinet is considered a major work of the Bayreuth Rococo.

Heinrich Wilhelm Spindler was one of the manufacturers of the most outstanding Rococo veneer furniture in Germany. The works were mainly created during his time in Potsdam. Another of his most important works is the paneling of the so-called Spindler's Cabinet for Fantaisie Castle in Eckersdorf ( Donndorf district ). The original is in the National Museum in Munich . An elaborate copy can be seen in Donndorf.
