Heinrich Wolfgang Freiherr von Weizsäcker (born March 29, 1947 in Zurich ) is a German mathematician. Until his retirement in 2012, he was Professor of Mathematics at the Technical University of Kaiserslautern .

Life

Heinrich Wolfgang von Weizsäcker comes from the Palatinate - Württemberg family Weizsäcker . He was born on March 29, 1947, the son of Gundalena Wille and the physicist and philosopher Carl Friedrich von Weizsäcker . His brothers are Carl Christian von Weizsäcker and Ernst Ulrich von Weizsäcker , sisters are Elisabeth Raiser and Dorothea Brenner. His uncle was the Federal President Richard von Weizsäcker .

He received his doctorate and then worked, among other things, as an assistant and later as a private lecturer at the mathematical institute of the University of Munich . Until he retired in 2012, he was Professor of Mathematics at the Technical University of Kaiserslautern . Research and teaching focus on the mathematical areas of real and stochastic analysis , for which he - among other things - published.

Private

He has been married to the doctor Dorothea Grassmann (* 1944) since July 13, 1969 and has four children, including the economist Georg Weizsäcker .
