Heinz-Jürgen Lorenzen

Heinz-Jürgen Lorenzen (* 1953 in Kiel ) is a German librarian. He was director of the Schleswig-Holstein library headquarters and managing director of the Schleswig-Holstein library association.

Life

Heinz-Jürgen Lorenzen graduated from the Hebbel School in Kiel in 1971 . He then studied physics and mathematics at Kiel University . With the thesis "Penning electron spectrometry with state-selected metastable neon atoms" he received his doctorate in 1981. rer. nat. After completing his doctorate, he worked as a biblical trainee lawyer at the Schleswig-Holstein state library from 1981 to 1983, before becoming head of the state library, director of the library centers in Flensburg and Rendsburg in the same year and managing director of the library association in Holstein eV. With the merger of the two library centers to form the Schleswig-Holstein library center in 1995, he managed it as director and managing director of the Schleswig-Holstein library until his retirement in December 2018. In this function he had a major impact on the public library system in Schleswig-Holstein.

Heinz-Jürgen Lorenzen has been a member of the ekz supervisory board since 1984 and has been chairman since 2017. From June 15, 2012 to March 31, 2019, Heinz-Jürgen Lorenzen was President of Library & Information Germany . His successor in this position is Sabine Homilius , head of the Frankfurt am Main city library. From 1991 to 2020 he was the managing director of the dbv -Landesverband Schleswig-Holstein.
