Heinz Affolter

Heinz Affolter (born May 16, 1953 in Lucerne ) is a Swiss musician (guitar, vocals, composition) of fusion jazz .

Affolter began his career as a professional musician after completing his professional training as a jazz musician and studying musicology at the University of Bern . Since the late 1970s he played in the band Kiol with Dave and Brigeen Doran as well as Walter Stricker and Raoul Walton, which in 1983 also acted as the opening act for Billy Cobham . He toured Europe with his own band and presented his first album, which led to a contract with the Californian label JCI . His second album Realities (1987) also brought him recognition in North America.

On his next album Acoustic Adventure he worked with Alex Acuña , Vinnie Colaiuta and Fernando Saunders. He collaborated with Dave Weckl on his album 'Seascape' . He recorded with Daniel Cerny and is also a studio musician.

Affolter teaches at the University of Lucerne and works as a sound engineer in his own studio in Eich .
