Heinz Anton Höhnen

Heinz Anton Höhnen (born August 8, 1932 ) is a German choir director, church musician and music teacher.

life and work

Höhnen studied church and school music at the Cologne University of Music and music, philosophy and German literature at the University of Bonn .

From 1962 to 2001 Höhnen was artistic director of the Bach Choir Koblenz (previously: Madrigal Choir). From 1976 to 2006 he also directed the Bad-Neuenahr-Ahrweiler Chamber Choir . In addition, he founded and directed what is now the Koblenz University Choir for over twenty years until 2000.

From 1971 Höhnen worked as a professor of music and as dean at the University of Koblenz-Landau . He was an artistic assistant at Europa Cantat , where he made an international name for himself as a studio manager at the festivals in Bruges, Lucerne and Namur.

Höhnen has been an organist in the Sankt Kastor Basilica in Koblenz for a long time . He also directs the choral school of this church. In 2001, Höhnen wrote the articles Koblenz and Maria Laach in the Grove Music Online music dictionary .
