Heinz Jurek

Heinz Jurek (born November 28, 1929 ) was a soccer player in Saxony . In Karl-Marx-Stadt (Chemnitz) he played for the BSG Chemie and SC Motor from 1954 to 1956 in the GDR Oberliga , the top division of the GDR Football Association .

Athletic career

Jurek began to play football in Freital, Saxony , after the Second World War . With BSG Hüttenwerk he became Dresden district champion in 1950 and with the successor BSG Stahl Freital 1953 champion of the new Dresden district league . After he had played with Stahl Freital as a striker in the second-rate GDR league in 1953/54, at the age of 24 he moved to the East German league promoted BSG Chemie Karl-Marx-Stadt for the 1954/55 season. There he immediately became a regular player, was the only one to play all 26 point games and was the Karl-Marx-Städter's second top scorer with seven point goals. He was initially used in midfield, but in the second half of the season he played almost only in attack. In the 1956 season, which was held for the first time in a calendar year rhythm, and in which the Karl-Marx-Städter now competed as SC Motor, Jurek also began as a striker, mainly in the half-left position. After he had played as a half-left striker on May 30, 1956 in the encounter of the 12th match day SC Rotation Leipzig - SC Motor, he was then no longer used. At the age of 26, his career as a player in the GDR Oberliga came to an end, in which he played 34 games for Karl-Marx-Stadt and scored nine goals. In addition, there were 13 games in the transition round from 1955 to the 1956 season.
