This provided a sporting liberation, St. Pauli rose completely unexpectedly in 2001 in the 1st Bundesliga . The sporting high-altitude flight lasted only a short time; it was relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga in 2002 and even in the regional league in 2003 , from which the club was able to rise again to the 2nd league in 2007 and returned to the 1st league for one season in 2010.
