The Heirtzler Highland is up to 500  m high highlands on the Black Coast of Palmer land on the Antarctic Peninsula . At the head of the Violante Inlet , it is bounded to the north by a previously unnamed glacier and to the south by the Maury Glacier .

The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1991 after the American geophysicist James Ransom Heirtzler (* 1925), a pioneer in the study of ocean floor spreading .
