Boiler plant Schönebeck
The Schönebeck boiler plant was a boiler production facility in Schönebeck (Elbe) in Saxony-Anhalt . Parts of the preserved company buildings are under monument protection .
location
The factory is located on Paulstrasse, south of the Magdeburg – Leipzig railway line .
history
In 1902, the Nationale Radiator Gesellschaft mbH began producing radiators in Schönebeck. After the Second World War , the plant produced boilers for the entire GDR . Radiators were also manufactured until 1968 . From 1969 the plant was run as VEB . After the peaceful revolution in the GDR in 1989 and the subsequent German reunification , the company continued to operate as a Gussheizkessel GmbH, but had to file for bankruptcy in 1994.
In the following time, large parts of the factory buildings on the 8.7 hectare site were demolished. Partly there was a new building with residential houses. In particular, a historical three-storey administration building made of red bricks was preserved. It is currently (as of 2020) empty and in need of renovation.
In the local register of monuments , the administration building is listed as a monument under registration number 094 61018 .
