Helene Nickel

Anna Josepha Helene Nickel (born February 15, 1848 in Eschweiler - Röhe ; † December 14, 1894 ibid) was the founder of the charitable " Helene Nickel Stift " in Röhe.

During a serious illness, Helene Nickel found care with the nuns of the Cellitinnen in Düren and, after her convalescence, made a donation to the parish of St. Antonius in Röhe possible there to care for poor, old and sick people in the Helene-Nickel- Pen .

Until 1905 the street up to the monastery was called Bachstraße , then Nickelstraße . In 1973 the main street adjoining it to the south was also renamed Nickelstraße .
