Helga Hahnel

Helga Hähnel (born February 7, 1918 in Berlin ; † February 6, 2009 there ) was a German sculptor.

Life

After graduating from high school in Berlin-Friedenau, she began studying at the HfBK Berlin and Weimar (1929–1944). Helga Hähnel was a private student of Walter Hauschild at the University of Art Education and a master student at the Berlin Academy of the Arts . From 1954 she worked as an administrative clerk to earn money. From 1957 to 1960, and from 1975 until her death, she was a member of the Berlin Artists' Association, in whose exhibitions she regularly participated (1957, 1959, 1961, 1974 (guest) 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1981, 1982, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991 ...). In 1984 she became treasurer of the VdBK .

Her works are in private hands as well as in public buildings and institutions. After the Second World War she moved into a studio in Handjerystr. 17, Berlin-Friedenau, which she had to leave around 2003 for health reasons.

Helga Hähnel mainly made animal sculptures, but also portraits and nudes. In addition to works in bronze, he also made sculptures in wood, ceramics and terracotta.
