Helga Herresthal

Helga Herresthal (* unknown) is a German table tennis player . She took part in two world championships for Saarland .

Career

Herresthal was one of the best table tennis players in Saarland in the 1950s. She began her career in 1942 with the Reichsbahn SG club and later belonged to SV Saar 05 Saarbrücken , SV Rockershausen. and Post SV Saarbrücken. She won a title five times at the Saarland championships: 1954 and 1955 in singles, 1953 and 1954 in doubles with Helga Naumann and in 1953 in mixed with Werner Weiß .

She was nominated twice for international matches, in 1950 against India and in 1954 against Belgium.

She represented Saarland twice at world championships: 1954 in London and 1955 in Utrecht. She did not come close to medal ranks. In 1954 she lost in singles against Coby Van Megen (Netherlands) and in doubles with Helga Naumann against Josee Wouters / Mary Detournay (Belgium). In mixed, she failed in the qualifying round. There was no victory in 1955 either. After bye she was eliminated in the second round against Monique Jaquet (Switzerland) in the singles. In doubles with John Urek (Yugoslavia) she lost to Birgitta Tegner / Simone Tarlet (Sweden / France) after a bye. The mixed with Werner Weiß failed because of John Somael / Pauline Robinson (USA).
