Helga Naumann

Helga Naumann (* unknown) is a German table tennis player . She took part in two world championships for Saarland.

Career

In the 1950s, Naumann was one of the best table tennis players in Saarland. She played from 1950 to 1954 for club SV Rockershausen and then for 1. FC Saarbrücken . She won eight titles at the Saarland championships: in doubles in 1953 and 1954 with Helga Herresthal and from 1955 to 1957 with Eva Graf , also in mixed 1954 with Ossi Michel and 1956 and 1957 with Hans Krämer . In the 1955/56 season she was in Worms southwest German champion in individual. She was unable to defend this title in the following year, as she was not reported by the Saarland table tennis association STTB due to insufficient training preparation. In 1957 Naumann made it to the semi-finals of the national German championships .

She represented Saarland twice at world championships: 1954 in London and 1955 in Utrecht. She did not come close to medal ranks. In 1954 she failed in singles and mixed in the qualifying round and in doubles with Helga Herresthal to Josee Wouters / Mary Detournay (Belgium). In 1955 she won the singles against Zdenka Urek (Yugoslavia) and then lost to the Austrian Ermelinde Rumpler-Wertl . The doubles with Eva Graf were eliminated in the first round against Trude Pritzi / Friederike Lauber (Austria), as was the mixed with Willi Trautmann against Helmuth Jespersen / Gudrun Kahns (Denmark).
