Helga Otto

Helga Otto (born November 28, 1938 in Leipzig ) is a German politician ( SPD ).

Life

Otto grew up in Bad Dürrenberg . In the course of the Ossawakim campaign - her father was one of the skilled workers affected - she was deported to the Soviet Union with her family . She later studied medicine in Leipzig. In 1964 she became a member of the German Gymnastics and Sports Association . In the same year she also began practicing as a general and adolescent doctor . She and her husband took over the state doctor's practice in Claußnitz . She practiced there, practicing as a private doctor after the fall of the Wall , until 2003.

From 1952 to 1962 she was a member of the FDJ . Then she moved to the FDGB , where she was a member until 1989. At the turn of the century, she joined the SPD. In 1990 she became deputy mayor of Claußnitz, in the same year she became a member of the German Bundestag , where she was a member of parliament until 1994.

Helga Otto is married. The marriage had three children.
