The Helipuerto de Melilla is a military helipad in the Spanish exclave of Melilla , which lies on the North African Mediterranean coast and borders Morocco .
The helicopter landing strip with VASI facility (Visual Approach Slope Indicator) is connected to the 60-meter-long and 45-meter-wide apron of the tower via a short taxiway . Next to the tower are the petrol station, maintenance and storage halls. The total covered area of the facility is around 23,000 m². The heliport corresponds to the ICAO fire protection category Heliport H 3 for helicopters with a rotor circle diameter of up to 35 meters and is approved for a total helicopter mass of 25,000 kg. The heliport is operated by FEMAT .
