Hell is an impact crater in the south of the front of the moon , south of the Mare Nubium , in the interior of the Deslandres mountain range , near the western edge. The crater rim is hardly eroded, the inside shows concentric structures.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the Austrian Jesuit and astronomer Maximilian Hell .
