Hella Pick
Hella Henrietta Pick CBE (born April 24, 1929 in Vienna ) is an Austro - British journalist.
Life
Born into a Jewish middle-class family , Pick grew up with his mother from the age of three after her parents divorced. After Austria's "annexation" to the National Socialist German Reich , she was able to escape to England in a children's transport in 1939 , her mother followed three months later. Pick attended school in the Lake District and studied political science at the London School of Economics .
In 1957, Pick began her journalistic work as a freelancer for the BBC, among others, and from 1961 worked for The Guardian newspaper as a correspondent for the United Nations and in Washington as well as in the foreign affairs department.
In Germany it was mainly through their performances at the International Frühschoppen of Werner Höfer and in the press club known.
