Hellmut Aichele

Hellmut Aichele (born February 16, 1902 in Ohrnberg , † August 1, 1975 in Stuttgart ) was a German organist , music teacher, choir director and composer .

life and work

Aichele studied from 1917 to 1923 first at the Künzelsau teacher training college. From 1924 to 1929 he studied at the Stuttgart Music Academy . From 1930 to 1933 and 1936/1937 he studied musicology at the University of Tübingen . Here he received his doctorate with a thesis on the life and work of the organist Otto Scherzer (1821–1886).

Aichele worked from 1929 to 1954 as a cantor and organist at the Leonardskirche in Stuttgart. In 1952 he was appointed church music director. From 1952 he also worked as a high school teacher for music. From 1956 he also worked as a music reporter for the Stuttgarter Zeitung . He also worked as a concert organist and choir director. Since 1962 he has taught at the Stuttgart / Ludwigsburg University of Education . In 1966 he was appointed professor there.

As a composer, he created numerous sacred and secular choirs, organ and piano works and various song settings. Aichele has published several song books.
