The tauraco ( Tauraco ) are a genus in the family of Turakos (Musophagidae).

They predominantly inhabit the treetops of trees in forest areas and savannahs in Africa and feed on young shoots, insects, berries and fruits, among other things.

The helmet turacos are long-tailed birds that reach a size between 35 and 45 centimeters. You have an erectable spring hood on your head. Their plumage color is mostly metallic green and blue. Males and females do not differ in color or in size within their species. Their wing feathers are dark red.

During courtship, the bonnet is erected and the flight feathers are spread apart to show off.

The eggs are hatched by both adult birds for up to three weeks and the hatched young birds are fed by both parents.
