Helmut Diegel (* thirtieth March 1956 in Hagen ) is a German politician of the CDU .

Life

Diegel graduated from high school in 1977 in Hagen. From 1984 to 1987 he was a CDU member of the city council of Hagen and belonged to the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia from 1985 until the state elections in May 2005 . From 1995 until his resignation, he was the budget and financial policy spokesman for his group. Before the state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2005, Diegel was acted as Finance Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia , but was left behind against Helmut Linssen .

After retiring from the Diet, he was President of the Government of the governmental district Arnsberg in North Rhine-Westphalia . When he took office, he said that he was probably the last district president in the Arnsberg district. He indicated that the state government of North Rhine-Westphalia, newly elected in 2005, was aiming to restructure the districts, which would have resulted in parts of the Arnsberg district being merged into a Ruhr area, while other parts with the other Westphalian districts of Münster and Detmold would have been summarized. However, this reallocation did not take place.

After Prime Minister Hannelore Kraft took office , he was dismissed from his position.

Diegel was appointed General Manager on September 14, 2010 by the General Assembly of the IHK Central Ruhr Area in Bochum and held this office until August 31, 2014.

After health problems had been overcome, he ran again in May 2017 in constituency 103 (Hagen Mitte, Hagen Nord and Hohenlimburg ) for the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia, but was unsuccessful. Diegel was the only candidate in his party who tried to get a lineup for this constituency.
