Helmut Geier

Helmut Geier (born July 31, 1944 in Seekirchen am Wallersee ) is a former general director of Wüstenrot Versicherungs-AG , Austria.

Life

In 1963 he graduated from the Salzburg Commercial Academy, completed military service and then joined the building society GdF Wüstenrot, Salzburg. In 1969 he was appointed head of the organization department, and five years later he was head of the division. In 1986 he was finally appointed to the board of directors of the Bausparkasse, where he was initially responsible for sales and then for central automation and contract management.

After the opening of the Eastern Bloc , Helmut Geier founded the foreign subsidiaries of Bausparkasse Wüstenrot in Prague, Bratislava, Budapest and Zagreb as well as the insurance company in Prague and Bratislava.

In 1998 Helmut Geier was appointed general director and chairman of the board of Wüstenrot Versicherungs-AG. One of the main strategic tasks was the merger of Wüstenrot Versicherungs-AG with Volksfürsorge Jupiter Versicherungs-AG (VJV for short) in 2001, which changed Wüstenrot Versicherungs-AG from a pure personal insurer to a composite insurer. On November 15, 2008, Geier resigned from his management board mandate.
