Helmut Hoeft

Helmut Hoeft (* 1957 in Berlin ) is a German church musician .

Hoeft studied Protestant church music at the Berlin church music school in Berlin-Spandau. Since 1982 he has worked as a cantor and organist at the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church , where he directs the choir , a community choir and a vocal ensemble. He is a lecturer for liturgical organ playing and improvisation at the church music seminar of the Evangelical Church Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia at the Berlin University of the Arts .

In 2004 he was awarded the title of Church Music Director. Helmut Hoeft is the organizational director of the International Organ Improvisation Festival Berlin, which has been taking place annually since the summer of 2004, and, together with Wolfgang Seifen, the artistic director of the organ concert series Meisterkonzerte Berlin, which has been taking place annually since 2005 in the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church . He bears the artistic and organizational responsibility for the extensive and demanding church music program in the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church in Berlin. Helmut Hoeft has also made a name for himself as a composer of numerous children's songs and sacred choral works. He is district cantor in the Berlin-Charlottenburg church district and is active in numerous honorary positions.
