Helmut Junghans

Helmut Arthur Junghans (born March 2, 1891 in Schramberg , † November 18, 1964 in Meran ) was a German watch manufacturer.

Career

Helmut Junghans was born as the son of watch manufacturer Arthur Junghans (1852–1920). After training as a watchmaker and businessman, he gained practical experience abroad. In 1913 he became manager of the family-owned watch factory Junghans and moved up to the board after the death of his father. In 1929 he became the company's general manager. During the Second World War he was appointed Wehrwirtschaftsführer and was chairman of the Special Committee IX of the Armaments Advisory Council of the Wehrmacht. He was thus actively involved in a leading position in the production of millions of grenade detonators. He was curator of the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt and deputy chairman of the German Society for Chronometry .
