Helmut Klomfar
Helmut Klomfar (born April 21, 1939 in Vienna ) is a former Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and entrepreneur. Klomfar was 1989-1991 member of the Bundesrat and 1992-1994 Member of the National Council .
Klomfar attended middle school after elementary school and then learned the trade of wholesaler. He founded his own plumbing trading company in 1960 and was awarded the professional title of commercial councilor .
In 1962 he joined the Austrian Economic Association (ÖWB) and in 1972 became district group chairman of the ÖWB Vienna- Brigittenau . In 1984 he was elected deputy regional group chairman of the ÖWB Vienna, in 1988 he took over the function of finance officer. In addition, from 1972 he was district party chairman of the ÖVP Brigittenau and from 1989 regional party chairman of the ÖVP Vienna. Furthermore, he was active as a functionary of the Chamber of Commerce for Vienna from 1965 and was its vice-president from 1984.
Klomfar represented the ÖVP between February 1, 1989 and December 8, 1991 in the Federal Council and was then a member of the National Council between May 6, 1992 and November 6, 1994. Most recently, Klomfar acted as curator of the Hernstein International Management Institute as well as vice president of the International Chamber of Commerce and until spring 2008 as chairman of AUVA .
