Helmut Kuhlmann (born August 15, 1940 in Rumbeck ) is a German politician (CDU). From 1974 to 1998 he was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament .

Life

Helmut Kuhlmann grew up in his place of birth, the Weser village Rumbeck (now Hessisch Oldendorf), Grafschaft Schaumburg. Later his main job was a publishing clerk.

In 1962 he joined the Junge Union (JU). He was chairman of the Lüneburg JU district association for 7 years. He also joined the CDU in 1962. From 1972 to 1992 he was chairman of the Gifhorn CDU district association.

Kuhlmann was councilor of the city of Gifhorn from 1968 to 1988 and mayor there from 1986 to 1988. In 1988 he resigned as mayor and councilor.

From 1972 to 2016 he was a member of the Gifhorn district assembly and from 1991 to 2016 chairman of the CDU district assembly. Among other things, he was chairman of the board of trustees of the district of Gifhorn Foundation, which was brought into being due to his political influence from the proceeds from the sale of the district's own hospital to Rhön Klinikum AG.

From 1991 to 1996 and again from 2006 to 2011 he was chairman of the association assembly of the Braunschweig area association .

Helmut Kuhlmann was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament from 1974 to 1998 . Here he was chairman of the specialist committee for urban development and housing for 14 years and was a member of the CDU parliamentary group committee for several terms. He was directly elected to the Lower Saxony state parliament six times; first in the state electoral district of Wolfsburg II (1974–1982) and then in the electoral district of Gifhorn-Süd (1982–1998).

Kuhlmann was also a long-time member of the Board of Directors of Sparkasse Gifhorn-Wolfsburg and a member of the local credit committee until 2017 .
