Egidius Doll (* 1946 in Essen ) is a German organist .

Life

Egidius Doll studied school music and catholic music from 1969 to 1976 . Church music at the Musikhochschule Freiburg , organ with Hans Musch and Ludwig Doerr , piano with Mechthild Hatz, harpsichord with Stanislav Heller ; from 1972 to 1976 he studied musicology , philosophy and German at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg . From 1975 to 1978 he took up organ studies with Michael Schneider in Cologne and studies abroad with Fernando Germani , Siena / Rome . From 1983 to 1988 he studied music education , general education and psychology at the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg , where he was awarded a Dr. phil. PhD.

From 1976 to 1979 Doll was organist at the Cathedral to Wetzlar , since January 1980 lecturer for organ improvisation , literature playing and composition at the conservatory in Würzburg and head of the department Catholic. Church music. Since 1988 he has been a lecturer for organ in the music department at the University of Mainz . In 1999 he was appointed professor .
