Sigfús Sigurðsson (born May 7, 1975 in Reykjavík , Iceland ) is an Icelandic handball player .
Sigfús Sigurðsson played from July 1, 2002 to June 30, 2006 as a circle center player at SC Magdeburg . a. at Valur Reykjavík , as well as in Japan and Spain. After Sigfús was under contract with the Spanish club Ademar León from 2006 to 2008 , he returned to Valur Reykjavík. In the 2010/11 season he helped out from November 9, 2010 for the remainder of the season at the German second division TV Emsdetten .
Sigfús Sigurðsson was one of the crowd's favorites in Magdeburg and was characterized by a good defense game. He became known nationwide when, already abstinent, he spoke openly about his alcohol and drug addiction that had stopped.
For the Icelandic national team Sigurðsson completed 162 games in which he scored 316 goals. At the 2008 Olympic Games he won the silver medal.
Sigfús Sigurðsson has a son from his marriage to a Russian diplomat's daughter. He is a member of Alcoholics Anonymous .
