Helmut Niederhofer

Helmut Niederhofer (born December 26, 1955 ) is an Austrian basketball official .

career

Niederhofer worked in various offices and positions for UKJ Möllersdorf (later renamed Arkadia Traiskirchen) for a total of 46 years . He played a total of 420 games for different Möllersdorfer teams. As a manager, he made sure that the club received a license to play in the basketball league in 1983 and established itself there. During his term of office, the Austrian championship titles in 1991, 1994 and 2000 as well as the victories in the cup competition in 1997, 2000 and 2001 fall.

From 1992 to 2016 Niederhofer held the office of chairman of the association in Traiskirchen and was therefore only the second to occupy this post after the association's founder Friedrich Tscherney. On the occasion of the club's 50th anniversary in 2016, Niederhofer was awarded the gold medal of honor by the Austrian Basketball Association. In the summer of 2016 he handed over the position of chairman to Ernst Nemeth and was active as the sporting director in the 2016/17 season. In May 2017, Fabricio Vay's father-in-law retired from this position.

As a representative for the Austrian market, Niederhofer was a member of the staff of the Interperformances player agency. In May 2019 he was elected chairman of the Lower Austrian Basketball Association.
