After stints with the Spanish second division team Pamesa Castellon and the Italian second division team CoopSette Rimini, the former Argentine junior national player joined Arkadia Traiskirchen  in the Bundesliga in the 2005/06 season . In the course of the 2006/07 game year he left Traiskirchen for Spain, where he joined Akasvayu Girona.

In the 2007/08 season Vay was for Iowa Energy in the North American NBA D-League and temporarily back in Traiskirchen on the field. In the 2008/09 game year he strengthened Traiskirchen again, scored 17.4 points on average and made the leap to one of the best Bundesliga players this season - in the following years he repeatedly confirmed this position. In 2009/10 he played first with the Hungarian club PVSK Pecs and briefly in his home country Argentina with Libertad Sunchales.

Between 2010 and 2017, Vay was active in Traiskirchen every season, achieving mean values of 17 points or more, but also made several stops in Argentina and Switzerland. Also his good eye for the teammates, which was expressed in numerous basket templates, and his rebound strength made Vay one of the best Bundesliga players of these years. In the 2010/11 season Vay was named the best player in the Bundesliga, in 2015/16 he was the best scorer in the league with an average of 20.4 points.

In the run-up to the 2017/18 season, Vay, who took on Austrian citizenship in 2018, left Traiskirchen for financial reasons and moved to rival BK Klosterneuburg within the Bundesliga . After a year in Klosterneuburg, in which he was once again one of the best players in the league with averages of 18.4 points and 8.5 rebounds per encounter, Vay and the club separated.

In October 2018 Vay moved to the second division Basket Flames Vienna .
