Helmut Röhrig
Helmut Röhrig (born December 14, 1944 ) is a former German soccer player.
Career
From 1964 to 1972, Helmut Röhrig played 215 games at Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the then second -rate regional football league West , scoring 16 goals. The sporting highlight was winning the championship in the 1967/68 series ahead of competitors Rot-Weiss Essen and Rot-Weiss Oberhausen . In the promotion round, he finished second with Leverkusen behind promoted Kickers Offenbach .
For the 1972/73 season Röhrig moved to the then regional league club VfR Heilbronn in the Regional Football League South , with which he finished sixth in his first season. After another season he qualified with Heilbronn for the newly created 2nd Bundesliga South. Röhrig was the captain of the lawn players this season. Due to a meniscus injury, he was out for a long time and had to largely watch from the outside as his team missed relegation.
After the missed re-promotion, he moved to SV Neckargerach in 1976 , before ending his career at SpVgg Frankenbach .
Later he was a coach at SV Neckargerach, VfR Heilbronn, Spvgg Frankenbach, SG Bad Wimpfen and Union Böckingen .
