From 1977 to 1983 Helmut Reiners played a total of 185 games in the 2nd Bundesliga and scored 51 goals. After playing for Sportfreunde Siegen from summer 1974 to summer 1975 , where he was only used in two cup games, he then worked for Rot-Weiß Lüdenscheid for two years and then from July 1, 1978 to June 30, 1983 for SG Wattenscheid 09 active.
Reiners played in right midfield as well as right winger .
