Helmut Schamberger

Helmut Schamberger (born January 22, 1938 in Geiersberg , Upper Austria ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ).

Life

After attending elementary school and high school in Ried im Innkreis , where he graduated from high school in 1956 , Helmut Schamberger graduated from the teacher training institute in Linz . After passing the teaching examination in 1960, he worked as a teacher at a vocational school until 1973. Between 1973 and 1975 he worked as a teacher at the commercial academy in Ried.

His political career began in 1967 when he moved into the town council of Ried im Innkreis. In the same year, Schamberger became city councilor for finance. He stayed that way until 1973, when he was elected Vice Mayor.

From October 1975 to October 1979 he was a member of the Federal Council in Vienna . This was followed by a change as a social democratic member of the Upper Austrian state parliament , in which Schamberger held a mandate from 1979 to 1997.

From 1973 to 1996 he also sat as Vice-President on the Supervisory Board of Rieder Messe.

Within his party, Schamberger was city party chairman of the SPÖ Ried im Innkreis from 1970 to 1994 and from 1973 to 1996 district party chairman of the SPÖ for the entire district of Ried im Innkreis .
