Helmut Tervooren

Helmut Tervooren (born January 7, 1935 in Issum ) is a German Germanist and Medievalist .

life and work

Helmut Tervooren began his academic career at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn. He received a professorship at the Mercator University - GH, Duisburg. As editor, author, editor and employee, he worked on literary and interdisciplinary projects. His research areas are the German literature of the Middle Ages from the beginning to 1500; History of the German language; Poetry of the Middle Ages; Codicology, textual criticism, metrics; but especially the history of language and literature in the Lower Rhine. He is co-editor of the journal for German philology and a founding member of the Institute for Lower Rhine Cultural History and Regional Development (InKuR) at the University of Duisburg-Essen .
